I had the nightmare commute to end all commutes. Left for work at 8.15. Got to Leytonstone, expecting the Central Line to still be a mess as it was when Hollie went to work at 5.30am. I didn't anticipate it to be as chaotic as it was.
The Central Line was still suspended in both directions and there were people everywhere. I knew my alternative route was a relatively simple one, 257 bus to Stratford and then the Jubilee Line to Westminster.
But oh no, I got through the subway to the bus stops at Leytonstone tube and there were at least 1000 people milling around the bus stop I wanted to get to. They were blocking the road and generally swarming round any bus that passed. None of the buses were even stopping because they were already full. I realised that I was not going to get anywhere so I started to walk to Stratford in the rain. Stratford was equally chaotic with people trying to find other routes, they had closed the North London Line platforms due to overcrowding and were about to do the same to the Jubilee Line when I squeezed through and squeezed onto a packed train. I then had a 45mins stop-start journey to Westminister. I finally got to work about 10am. I hope that the problems are fixed by this evening.
I have had far more problems since I started living on the Central Line than I did when I lived on the Picadilly Line, the only consolation is the fact that I am nearer to the station
Grrrr.
